As Decomposing Pianos,
Julia Krolik and Owen Fernley focus on developing the tools and methods required to present ideas,
such that they may transition from thought to experience. Their process is a combination of premeditated planning
and spontaneous experimentation in which they are free to discover the unexpected within the confines of a structured system.
Often their work is time-based, where pre-defined boundaries are tested through live improvisation. Should their work be a completed
installation or produced piece, this too will exist as a result of the same process: as a frozen moment near the end of an experiment,
or its autonomous continuation.
